10 Restaurants to Try in Austin, TX

Austin is known for barbecue and tacos, but what if I told you there is so much more to food in this capitol city? There are some amazing restaurants in Austin and sometimes it's hard to figure out which ones to try. I've lived in Austin for about 6 years now and have tried many different restaurants. Here are 10 of my favorites:

1. Titaya's Thai Cuisine

Titaya's is outstanding!! It's seriously some of the best Thai food I have ever had! I highly recommend ordering the Pad See Eiw, it's incredible!

5501 N Lamar Blvd. Suite C101

Austin, TX 78751

2. 34th Street Café

34th Street Café is the perfect restaurant for family dinners, date nights, or girl's nights. They have a good selection of wines and they have great options for lunch and dinner. For dinner definitely try the Hack salad! Also, some menu items change occasionally so check them out every now and then to try new things!

1005 W 34th Street

Austin, TX 78705

3. North Italia

There are many different locations across the U.S., but trust me it's delicious. There's a location on 2nd Street (Downtown) and one at The Domain, both are great spots again for dinner with friends or for date night. They have a pretty large selection of food and drinks. If you want some pasta, try the chicken pesto pasta!! It's amazing.

Downtown: 500 W 2nd Street, #120, Austin, TX 78701

The Domain: 11506 Century Oaks Terrace, Suite 124, Austin, TX 78758

4. Sway

Sway is a delicious Thai restaurant in West Lake that is perfect for special occasions, whether it's for a birthday or an anniversary. They have meals and also small plates perfect for sharing. Plates you must try: Brussels sprouts, pad Thai ki, son in law, and beef fried rice!

3437 Bee Caves Road

West Lake Hills, Texas 78746

5. The Peached Tortilla

The Peached Tortilla has really awesome specials every week, like fried chicken and whiskey Wednesdays and ramen nights on Thursdays. This restaurant is perfect for any occasion. Things to try: charred brussels, pork belly buns, and the taco trio.

5520 Burnet Road, Suite 100

Austin, Texas 78756

6. Loro

You'll find Loro on all of the lists of restaurants to try in Austin and it totally deserves the recognition. I cannot get over their Malaysian curry chicken rice bowl. It's outstanding! P.s. They're also on UberEats!

2115 S Lamar Blvd.

Austin, Texas 78704

7. Fresa's

Austin has some great Mexican food spots, but Fresa's is worth the stop! They have everything from meat plates and tacos to bowls and salads. My favorites are the La Mari taco, El Santo taco, and the chicken flautas. If you have a sweet tooth, don't forget to order some churros or homemade ice cream.

1703 S First St.

Austin, Texas 78704

8. Aba

I'm a sucker for Mediterranean food so of course I had to try Aba. I would consider it a special occasion night or just a nice restaurant if you're looking for a nicer family dinner or date night. There are only three locations and Austin is lucky enough to be considered home for one of those. They offer full dinner plates and shareable plates. The whipped feta and hummus are great plates to order for the table. The grilled chicken kebabs are perfect for dinner, but I don't think you could really go wrong with any dish at Aba. They also have a large selection of drinks!

1011 S Congress Ave.

Building 2, Suite 180

9. Home Slice Pizza

Home Slice is another restaurant that you'll find on all the Austin lists. If you're a thin crust pizza person like me, you have to check out Home Slice. They have some options with toppings already chosen or you can choose your own toppings!

1415 S Congress Ave.

Austin, Texas 78704

10. Blue Dahlia Bistro

Blue Dahlia is one of my family's favorite restaurants in Austin. It's great for a laid back meal with family or friends. They have some delicious European-inspired dishes! I recommend ordering the hummus or chicken salad tartine.

3663 Bee Caves Rd.

Austin, Texas 78746

For Drinks:

Honey Moon Spirit Lounge

Honey Moon has a huge selection of drinks and they even have some food options! They offer some happy hour specials on weekdays and a wine Wednesday special!! Honey Moon has a laid back vibe perfect for date nights or anniversaries.

624 W 34th

Austin, Texas 78705

For Dessert:

Lick Honest Ice Cream

My all-time favorite ice cream is Lick! Their ice cream is made with high quality, fresh ingredients. They have some seasonal flavors and everyday flavors. They even have ice cream sandwiches and vegan ice cream! My favorite flavor is the Hill Country Honey & Vanilla Bean, but you really can't go wrong with any of the flavors. Luckily, there are three locations around Austin for you to choose from.

These are only some of the amazing restaurants that Austin has to offer. Once you've tried a place on the list, let me know what you think!
